| Description | Tartaruchi's forms vary drastically from demon to demon. |
| Procreation | Tartaruchi procreate with other noble demons (except for fallen angels, usually), creating tartartuchi. They generally think themselves too good to breed with non-nobility, but it does happen occassionally, & then it follows the mother. Any breeding with non-demons generally results in half-demons. |
| Magic | 1/200000 have soul magic, 1/1000000 have heart magic. Body & mind magic are common, & faith is also common, though vestment is not. Void use is normal. |
| Special Powers | Tartaruchi vary greatly by individual. Powers range greatly over the 11 black spheres, though some features are common: dark aura, acid breath, wings, paralyzing gaze, poisoned fangs, torturing touch, entropic wall, void bile, malnourishing gas breath, angering presence, hideous visage (looking upon the demon results in uncontrolled vomiting), horns, tails, claws, hooves, fur, scales, acute hearing/vision/smell, rank odor, mindbreak, jealousy aura, frost touch, glamour, raise zombie/ghouls/ghosts/etc., cause melancholia, soul kill, corrosive aura, hideous visage, berzerking gaze, soul binding, creating spectres, summoning hell dragons, hellfire breath, demonic possession, entropic wall, planar gates, teleporting, Avagenic eye control, withering touch, dehydrating breath, landwasting, void blood, obliterating at will, wings, horns, claws, talons, tongues of great length, extra eyes, humps, tails, hooves, glamour, nightmare creating (the dreams, not the steeds), terrifying visage, rank odor, mindbreak, destroyer lightning or fire, plagues, poisonous spit, acid spit, paralyzing grasp, unholy aura, creating darkness, vampric blood-drinking, seduction, sorrowful moans, scarring attack, depression gaze, charm gaze, cause melancholia, ice wall, freeze ground, blizzards, etc, etc. All are immune to mundane fire & can steal souls of the mortally wounded or those who sell their soul via contract. | Culture | Each tartaruchi has a title, describing the place they are noble ruler of in the Hells or Catacombs. Most tartaruchi never spend too much time in their fiefdoms, however. Usually, they spend their time being sycophants amongst the demonic nobility, serving the powerful demons, attempting to gain power & favor. Tartaruchi feed on souls, & can gain rank by devouring enough of them. Some tartaruchi can gain ranks, & some can become octallons, depending on what sort of souls they devour. Pure souls will get them to duke of hell, while particularly magical souls will make them octallons. Tartaruchi are social demons, but they actually detest other nobility, seeking their own power. As such, they are treacherous bastards. Furthermore, they sometimes deign to consort with mortals, & then they act every inch the haughty noble--or the raving monster. Some tartaruchi may become nerons if they gain enough power via souls. Most tartaruchi spend their time in indolent luxury, doing spiteful things to their neighbors, demanding tribute, occassionally plotting. They are completely untrustworthy, & they do not work well with others. |
| Notables | Sarkath, General of the Hells, who commands most of the demons in times of war. He has one hand which never unclenches except to choke victims, and another made of three iron hooks. |
