Dionysus The hull is airtight, & with the right work, anyone inside will be able to breath like it were Shem. Three's an airlock, so you can leave without losing the air.
Dionysus The engines, though... They have a huge blast area.
Dionysus You need to find a place with a good ten mile radius of /nothing/ to launch from, or burn a lot of ground & irradiate the rest.
Sue Can we use the antigrav to lift the ship ten miles up?
Dionysus You'd need the initial thrust from the engines just to get it started moving up, I think.
Sue I'm picturing a mule pulling it into the nearest wasteland ...
Dionysus It floats in the water.
Dionysus Of course, launching from the ocean would hurt the ocean dwellers below it pretty bad.
Sue So we have to find a nearby patch of ocean that isn't inhabited?
Dionysus Well, that could be easy or hard. Do you care about a) irradiating the water itself, b) the danger of that much steam, & c) animal life?
Sue Are there dolphins nearby that I can ask? Or other marine sentients?
Dionysus You can arrange word be sent to such.
Dionysus Eventually, the healers & doctors will direct you to the medical library if you keep asking questions before you start trying to heal.
Dionysus Does he try to heal or go to the library?
- Sue digs into it and also prays for Quaigor's help.
Sue Er, reading.
Dionysus Quaigor's help with non-void medicine, anatomy, & biology isn't as good as it is with void-related, but he is a god... If you study until the boy recovers/dies, you get a 5 in medicine.
- Sue studies for about a day. On the second day he starts looking for people to heal.
Dionysus Then you get a 1 for a day's worth
Sue Can healees be found?
Dionysus Yes
Dionysus Quaigor will try to guide you through it with non-void creatures now, though.
Dionysus
First, you must determine what they have that they should not.
Dionysus
A disease, a hole, a parasite, a... building block. If it does not belong, we can make it go away.
- Sue drinks it in. Sue attempts to heal anyone who asks for healing. Is he successful?
Dionysus
If their weak minded healers cannot find the cause, we might discover it by voiding the barrier between their bodily knowledge & their mental knowledge. This will take great devotion to me to accomplish, however.
Dionysus Several are willing to be healed by you. Do you find their causes?
- Sue would try to team up with a mundane healer, given what Quaigor has said.
Dionysus One of them is willing to try.
Sue Excellent.
Dionysus He tells you this first patient has an infected sword wound to his lower arm. So two things need be removed: the infection & the wound. The infection, the healer says, is caused by germs, though their nature he doesn't know.
Sue "How can we find out the nature of the germs?"
Dionysus Knowing your target to this degree alleviates your penalties by 2, so -...4? I think ti would be. The healer says, "The healing priests & mages used to be able to find out. I have attempted to use lenses to see them, but have as yet not had luck."
- Sue tries the wound first, then the infection. He visualizes it as a very tiny invading army.
Sue When the patient is gone, Sue asks both the healer and Quaigor, "Is that normal? Did I make a mistake?"
Dionysus "Err, healing with void in itself is not normal. I would have no idea what would be normal."
Dionysus
He is not of void. It does not strengthen him.
Sue "Should we expect his arm to start working again with time?"
Dionysus
That depends on how strong he is.
Sue "How long would it take for a wound like that to heal normally, without aid?"
Sue "I mean ... supernatural aid."
Dionysus
An infected wound would probably have killed him. Had it not been infected? Had the foolish aliens known what they were doing? A week or two before the arm was useful again, a month before it completely healed. The scars, perhaps lingering pain, would last his life.
- Sue thanks the healer for his indulgence and excuses himself, unsure. . o O ( Void Father, we need a hit. Something that will make our audience - the foolish aliens - remember us, make them want us to come back. If we could heal their sick, I think it would be a huge hit. )
Dionysus
I shall consider this issue & tell you later how to affect it.
- Sue goes to the docks and collects Ton's report, then begins explaining to him the basic principles of void healing.
Dionysus Ton listens avidly.
Dionysus His report has little new. You weren't gone too long
- Sue spends a day or two on this. The rest of the time is spent explaining void engineering, or dealing with the issue of the launch site.
Sue When there's no time left until the launch, Sue tells Ton the following: "I had hoped to bring you with me to the moons, but it is critical that you spread as many details of what I have learned here as possible to our brothers and sisters. There wasn't enough time in the temple to say everything that needed to be said. This is my Maraddonian signet ring - here, take it. You will have to be /my/ voice while
