Appearing to be a peacock with a dog's head & lion' claws, its feathers are the color of copper & the rest of it body is composed of 29 other fantastic colors. The simurgh is an immortal bird from First Shem, & some say a mythical world before First Shem. Others say it will live on til a Third Shem, unkillable until such time.

Being part mammal, the simurgh suckles its young. Its milk is a panacea to any or all ills a child might succumb to. Its wings, likewise, can cure any ailment an adult might have, with but a touch. Furthermore, being that the simurgh nests in the forests of the World Tree, it has access to thousands of different kinds of seeds, many of which get caught in its foliage. These seeds are likely to have any effect if grown or consumed, but mot likely, they will be haoma seeds, which cure or destroy almost any evil.

Because of its age & power, the simurgh is vastly wise. If one can contrive a way to speak to it, one can gain the knowledge of the ages. Because of its wisdom & milk, the simurgh is capable of raising the young of others, & has been known to raise human (or other race) children. These children invariably are wise & powerful & can speak to the simurgh at will.

Like many magical birds, the simurgh has a natural hatred of snakes, which, when the First Shem was created, were the symbol of the Mother of Darkness.
