Old
Galfindr, a blue dragon who lives on the edge of the Duchy
Plot:
The heroes hear tell that the Duke's daughter has been kidnapped by a dragon. The reward is significant and the woman is clearly in danger.
It will turn out that the dragon is kindly but aloof, and it found the woman dead outside its den. The heroes presumably bring back the body, only to be blamed for the murder of Oanez.
Turns out, Forsyth is not dead, as everyone thinks, but a lich. He and his apprentice Roderick sacrificed Oanez in order to resurrect the Duke's first son, Ilbert, who is now a returned. Margh is Forsyth's puppet. Forsyth plans to have Ilbert return miraculously, indicating he was never killed in war, but captured. He will weave a tale of his long imprisonment, his escape and odyssey, and return to take his Duchy back.
The heroes will be caught up in the middle of the family squabble.
Other notes:
- Gavonia is long dead and unimportant.
- Paaie is more concerned with her March and not much interested in the Duchy of Sidony. She loathes Margh and only married him for political reasons. She is, however, ignorant of the machinations of the lich.
- Margh is a scholarly sort who cares nothing for politics, war, or magic. He focuses on history and philosophy, when he is free.
- Winoc is a conniving bastard who is aware of the lich's plot. He is not a necromancer, but he has no problems with necromancy. He is a warrior and a politician, and he seeks to replace Oanez with himself or his youngest daughter.
- Delyth is a powerful politician in her own right. She is not above manipulation and deceit, but she is also not a complete monster. She is unaware of the lich's plots, but she has plots of her own. She genuinely cares about the Barony of Kacey, and she can see how being Duchess of Sidony could help her small Barony.
- Quinten is loyal to his mother, but he thinks she doesn't see the big picture. He is ambitious and seeks better for himself (and by extension, if only by accident, for Cecily).
- Oanez was an intelligent woman who cared for both Sidony and Cecily, but
