The bluecaps were fashioned from the dreams of lost miners, and Shocking Blue (the name given to the Manifest of the Bluecaps by miners) was the most powerful of them. She appears to be a bright blue flame, so bright that she illuminates the deepest mines through solid rock without difficulty. She is a lover of the Knocker Manifest, and the two of them have begun a dark war against the Duke of the Dark Beneath at the behest of The Queen, who has interpreted certain prophecies to mean that the ancient wars will be renewed.
