Secerator Tove is a Rendrin wild talent with the ability to speak to ravens. He grew up in the powerful Tove family as the sixth of six sons. He knew that he would one day enter the faith of the Gatekeeper, like many of his ancestors had, because that was what younger sons did. He never questioned that role, not once in his whole life. His devotion was locked in at an early age, and he felt right in that path.

By the time he was 20, he was a priest. He took a congregation near his ancestral lands, but he never felt right running funerals and speaking words for the elderly. He wanted to serve his goddess in a more profound and direct manner. He spoke to his father, Groaznic Tove, and sought to get him to influence the church to put him in a more interesting location. A few weeks later, Secerator was kidnapped in the middle of the night.

The Key Faith brought him to a secret location and began his training as a Toucher. For nine months, he trained. He was then sent to a new location, and there he trained for a year as a Sender. His training complete, he was awarded the Keys of Taking and Sending, and he was commanded to a post. He began working as assassin and undead hunter. For 30 years, he worked, rising in the ranks and earning accolades.

During his years of service, he met many others working in similar lines of work. One such was a person named Kryogi, a sniper of incredible skill and longevity. Kryogi so respected Secerator's work, he invited him to the annual gathering of the world's top assassins, the Moot of Gatherers. There, he met ancient and powerful killers, legends, and a few current masters. He made connections that would serve him well, and he started a friendship with Kryogi that would last the rest of his life.

One day, the old Master Sender died. Out of 12 candidates, Secerator proved to have the most experience, most skill, and most influence.
