| Description | From Lovecraft: These figures were seldom completely human, but often approached humanity in varying degree. Most of the bodies, while roughly bipedal, had a forward slumping, and a vaguely canine cast. The texture of the majority was a kind of unpleasant rubberiness. (Pickmans Model) It was a colossal and nameless blasphemy with glaring red eyes, and it held in bony claws a thing that had been a man, gnawing at the head as a child nibbles at a stick of candy. Its position was a kind of crouch, and as one looked one felt that at any moment it might drop its present prey and seek a juicier morsel. But damn it all, it wasnt even the fiendish subject that made it such an immortal fountain-head of all panicnot that, nor the dog face with its pointed ears, bloodshot eyes, flat nose, and drooling lips. It wasnt the scaly claws nor the mould-caked body nor the half-hooved feetnone of these, though any one of them might well have driven an excitable man to madness. (Pickmans Model) Description is where comparison to Lovecraft's ghouls ends, however. |
| Procreation | Follows the mother, with other goblins. Halfbreeds may occur outside of race. |
| Magic | One in five million have soul magic. One in five hundred thousand have heart magic. Mind magic, body magic, & void are possible. Faith is not uncommon. |
| Special Powers | A ghal has an extremely keen sense of smell. They have digestive systems that can handle almost any degree of decay & rot, & they have enormous strength in their jaws. They have an affinity for nuckalavee, though they rarely find any. They tend to stink horrendously. |
| Weaknesses | Harvest magic or faith can harm them. |
| Culture | Ghal live in brutal packs, feasting on the dead & dying, the rotting & the decaying, scouring hill country & graveyard, wasteland & urban sprawl, for carrion to devour. They are not unintelligent, but they rarely bother to speak. |
