Description At birth, all dragons look like large, pink worms. At maturity, dragons grow to be massive winged serpents with sallow scales all over. Some grow massive legs and become bulbous and disgusting.
Procreation Dragons mate with each other only. Without intense supernatural interference, half-dragons are an impossibility. Dragons lay one to three eggs at a time. Upon hatching, a dragon immediately begins absorbing background energies. All dragon eggs are filled with pure, liquid draconic energy, which sustains the baby dragon upon hatching.
Esoterica Sallow dragons have absorbed massive amounts of vile energy, which is blood corrupted by msawhat but not converted to pure msawhat. It is the energy of disease. They also commonly have infernum, brown aether, arnum, void, and shadow energies. Neutral energies are common, especially sallowlight aether, currents aether, and pattern aether, poioumenon, yahas, and mana. Divine energies are not unhead of. Holy energies are impossible, especially qi.
Special Powers

Dragons gain new powers as they accumulate more energies. At each stage of growth, they gain a new ability, usually culminating with the twelfth ability when they accumulate . The usual progression of powers is as follows:

  • Level 1: Poisonous gas breath weapon
  • Level 2: Immunity to poisons
  • Level 3: Immunity to mental ailments
  • Level 4: Immunity to aetherial attacks
  • Level 5: Scales grant the bearer disease resistance
  • Level 6: Zone of fever
  • Level 7: Send plague, once per year
  • Level 8: Mindflay
  • Level 9: Healthsight
  • Level 10: Venomous bite
  • Level 11: Summon poisonous snakes
  • Level 12: Modify disease

All dragons accumulate energies by absorbing them naturally from the area around them. As such, they must carefully cultivate their lairs to provide the right kinds of energies, hence they hoard appropriate objects.

Other common powers include pollute environment, souldrain, mindbreaking, amplify virulence, and genetic splice at will.

Alternate Forms Sallow dragons usually take on the form of a wererat (rat-man form), aluvar, or ophidian if need be.
Weaknesses Curacion can harm them.
Subspecies Swamp dragons have legs and bulbous bodies covered in disgusting pustules and sores. They are sallow dragons who absorbed more vile energy than most. They have a sludge spray breath weapon, can control and create swamps, have command over poisonous creatures, and pollute the air by existing.
Culture

Sallow dragons lay their eggs in deep pools in the swamps, where they leave them to fend for themselves. Some sallow dragons also steal eggs from other dragons to corrupt them. The young survive at a rate of one out of nine.

At maturity, sallow dragons must fight to become part of a tribe, or they will be hunted as rogues. If they survive long enough as a rogue, they may start their own tribes. Within the tribes, control is held over weaker dragons by stronger dragons, usually via manipulation and deceit, but through violence if need be. Weaker dragons are expected to feed the stronger ones.

When a sallow dragon gets old, a younger, stronger dragon kills them and absorbs their energies.
