| Description | Ro-langs are stiff, ambulatory corpses. They can be spotted by the fact that they always wave their tongues at their victims. The whites of their eyes are blue. They cannot speak. |
| Corruption | Ro-langs can create other ro-langs by touching the heads of their victims. They can also be created by evil spirits known as gdons (who are themselves corrupted) or bgegs (who are inherently evil). |
| Esoterica | Ro-langs are beings of brumal aether and msawhat. They are mindless, have no powers of their own, and cannot learn any new ones. |
| Special Powers | Ro-langs cause unease in those who are near them. If the tongue is cut out of a ro-langs, it will become an evil sword and the body will turn to gold. Their bodies are stiffened with death and frost. |
| Necromancy | To create a ro-langs, a user of brumal aether and/or msawhat must use a ritual that either invokes a gdon or bgeg to possess them before they are buried or freezes and infuses the body with msawhat (8). They are automatically under the control of their creator. To control one created by another, one must trap them where they cannot escape for three days then release them, taking a piece of their clothing as they leave. To capture and draw their power, one must either be its creator or keep them trapped where they cannot escape permanently. Summoning ro-langs requires either singing the names of those one controls or invoking the spirits that possess them. |
| Sending | There are give kinds of ro-langs based on how they are destroyed: lpags-langs (skin corpses, who die by the breaking of their skin), khrag-langs (blood corpses, who die when they bleed), sha-langs (flesh corpses, who die by deep cuts), rus-langs (bone corpses, who die when their bones are broken), and rme-langs (mole corpses, who die if their moles are struck). |
| Weaknesses | A ro-langs cannot speak or bend over. Low doorways will prevent them from entering a dwelling. Solar aether will completely destroy them, but any heavenly essence, qi, or the gates. Heat (supernatural or otherwise) can cause them to thaw and rot. |
| Behavior | Ro-langs obey their masters. They cannot speak. They cannot bend their bodies very well. Their joints are frozen stiff. Most are used either as sources of power or as servants, soldiers, or laborers. Those possessed by a gdon or bgegs only seek to spread their infection and turn others into ro-langs, somtimes causing epidemics. |
| Dominion Culture | In the Wapek Dominion, ro-langs are common laborers and servants, very low-ranking and usually enslaved. |
| Other Dominions | Ro-langs exist in other Dominions as laborers on par with shamblers or zombies, usually only in icy cold places. They do not have extra powers. |
| Mortal Interactions | Ro-langs are sometimes the servants of powerful mortals, but usually, they either seek to kill or infect them. Usually, they are known in the mountains and buildings are designed to keep them out. Most people are taught from a young age how to dispose of them. |
| Afterlife | A ro-langs can sometimes find redemption is sent with heavenly essences. Most linger in the in-between for centuries before moving on to the Grey Lands. |
