| Description | Rakshasas (female: rakshasis) appear, in their natural state, to be flames of varying colors, but they glamour themselves into fearsome forms at will. Most forms involve multiple animal-heads. |
| Procreation | With anyone, anywhere, anyhow. |
| Magic | 1/3000 have soul magic. 1/1000 have heart magic. Mind &is possible, as is void. Body magic is possible, but weaker, since the bodies they damage are merely glamours. Faith is uncommon. |
| Special Powers | Rakshasas are amongst the best users of glamour in the faerie kingdoms, though they are forced into a tiger-form at night. They have poisonous fingernails (in forms with fingernails), and they are stronger at night (when their inner fires burn brighter). They have the ability to magically instill fear or lust with their glamours. They can possess people by consuming them with flames. They can vanish 11 times a day, but their vanishing is extended longer than others--a full minute rather than 30 seconds. |
| Culture | On First Shem, the rakshasas conquered and controlled the entire tigrisian race, much to the dismay of their god, the Flame Divine. Between Shems, the Flame Divine remade tigrisians with an immunity to possession, allowing them to be free on the new Shem. Furthermore, He made it such that the rakshasas would be revealed for their true selves unless, at night, they became tigers. Not all rakshasas are dominant, controlling, cannibalistic tricksters, but enough of them are that they have earned the reputation. When a rakshasa is good-hearted, they tend to be exemplary heroes. Otherwise, they have little respect for anything, seeing the world as fuel for their fire. |
| Notables | Ten-Headed Brinma, Horror of the Mountains; Baghaas, Hero of the Valley |
| Weaknesses | Only iron or sufficiently magical/blessed attacks (especially ice or water) can kill a rakshasa. |
