| Description | Short (3-5'), stout trolls with long arms that reach the ground. Their snouts are long & warthog-like, with greyish skin all over & white patches of fur. Their backs are covered in porcupine-like spines. Their eyes are sallow yellow, & their feet are broad & clawed. Their hand claws are razor sharp, & their fangs are plentiful. |
| Procreation | Follows the mother with other humanoids & trolls. With other races, either no issue or halfbreeds. |
| Magic | One in a million have soul magic. One in a hundred thousand has heart magic. Mind magic, body magic, & void are common. Faith is not uncommon. |
| Special Powers | A pukwudgie is very strong for its size, & extremely agile. They have a howl that fills any potential prey with a deep despair, and they can vanish at will 4 times/day. Their spines are poisonous, and they use the same poison to treat darts and arrows. Once per day, they can create fire at will. If a pack kills someone, the pack will collectively own the soul of the victim. |
| Weaknesses | Hope magic or faith can hurt them. Confusing them is an easy way to beat them. |
| Culture | Pukwudgies are little better than animals. They live in packs, large, slavering packs, that roam the lowlands & hunt. They are viewed by most people as intelligent, but rabid bears. Though they can speak, they rarely do. Very few pukwudgies break free of the pack, but when they do, they tend to be shy in polite society (or dead very quickly). Pukwudgies like to kidnap children of other races, burn enemy villages, push victims off cliffs, lure them away and capture them, use sand to blind enemies, and typically fight with spears and short knives. They are violent and dangerous. In their own histories and that of those around them, it is said they were once friendly, but all their attempts to be helpful would backfire, so they turned toward torment and murder instead. |
