A winged horse that has a weakness to gold, the pegasus is a fierce & proud beast. The pegasus is capable of flying even in space, amongst the stars, & the sting of a gadfly will send it into a berzerk rage.

Only a muse may ride a pegasus without first taming it with gold, & the touch of a muse will pull it out of its berzerk instantly. A pegasus that has been touched by a muse can transfer the inspiration it is given to water by using its hooves to open a spring anywhere it chooses.

A pegasus is said to be immune to lightning, to the extent that it can catch bolts in its teeth.

It is impossible to pull a feather off a pegasus, but when a pegasus dies, a single feather will fall out. These feathers have a number of powerful magical properties. The rest of the pegasus becomes a pool of starlight & ascends to the sky.
