Description At birth, all dragons look like large, pink worms. At maturity, dragons grow to be beautiful, pearl-colored feathered serpents. Some grow to be much larger than others, and much brighter.
Procreation Dragons mate with each other only. Without intense supernatural interference, half-dragons are an impossibility. Dragons lay one to three eggs at a time. Upon hatching, a dragon immediately begins absorbing background energies. All dragon eggs are filled with pure, liquid draconic energy, which sustains the baby dragon upon hatching.
Esoterica Pearl dragons have a powerful mixture of hegnh and serene emotional energy. Heavenly light, radiance, dumaqu, Foundation, and emotional energies like love, kindness, compassion, and respect are not uncommon. Elysian energies are rare but not impossible. Divine energies are very common. Most neutral energies are rare, but Damaskian energy is impossible, and emotional belligerence is as well. Psionic energy is fairly common.
Special Powers

Dragons gain new powers as they accumulate more energies. At each stage of growth, they gain a new ability, usually culminating with the twelfth ability when they accumulate . The usual progression of powers is as follows:

  • Level 1: Soothing breath
  • Level 2: Immunity to provocation
  • Level 3: Immunity to coercion
  • Level 4: Immunity to sharp edges
  • Level 5: Scales grant temporary untouchability
  • Level 6: Zone of serenity
  • Level 7: Complete peace touch, once a year
  • Level 8: Moderate healing at will
  • Level 9: Danger sense
  • Level 10: Negotiation instinct
  • Level 11: Summon herd of horses
  • Level 12: Untouchable

All dragons accumulate energies by absorbing them naturally from the area around them. As such, they must carefully cultivate their lairs to provide the right kinds of energies, hence they hoard appropriate objects.

Other common powers include causing sleep, protective barrier, instilling endurance, mindreading, and empathy.

Alternate Forms Pearl dragons sometimes take on the form of a centaur, a crane, or a xenark if they need to.
Weaknesses Damaskian power or emotional belligerence energy will harm them.
Subspecies Plains dragons have absorbed incredible amounts of emotional serenity. They appear to be much larger versions of pearl dragons, but they are much more sedate. They sleep on the plains and become part of the landscape, infusing it with a peaceful feeling that makes it a calming place for miles around.
Culture

Pearl dragons lay their eggs in bowers built out of tall grass, and a parental couple usually guards and raises their young. Pearl dragons mate for life. They live in small communities on the plains and hill lands, making peace with local communities, which help them trade for treasures to hoard. They offer protection and education in exchange.

Pearl dragons have a reverence for scholars, ambassadors, and traders, and they often split their communities such that these things can be focused on. The ambassadors are the only ones who commonly leave, and they are called kren-diief. Pearl dragons love to learn new languages, write poetry, and have long conversations, and they will pull newcomers into these for days at a time.

When a pearl dragon grows old, they are given places of honor in their communities until they pass away. Their funerals are quiet and respectful, often including a listing off of their achievements.
