| Founded | The Age of Legends, First Shem |
| Founder | Theodric Salvatore aka Sather aka the pale thief |
| Symbol | Coin, Thorn, Foot and Veil, in any combination; green coins; the Sword of Movement. |
| Purpose | Organized theft, especially Gifts, relics, and enchanted items. |
| Leader | By tradition, the guild-master is known as the Sather. The Sword of Movement is the item of office. |
| History | The original Sather was not member of any organized criminal organization. He took an apprentice to pass on his skill & his Sword to & left it at that. He was dedicated to the silence faith for the majority of his career. His first apprentice was amongst the first dopplegangers, however, & as time went on, the skills of the current Sather brought attention in the criminal realm that lead many to try to serve the Sather. When, exactly, the Order itself was formed is unknown--sometime in the First Dark Ages, perhaps--but by the Age of Pride, they were a powerful enough force on First Shem to warrant attention from the Guardians of Mortality. By the Age of Terror, they had forged an alliance with the Runners, all members officially becoming Runners, for the major extent of the Age--save during the Era of Envy, during which they strongly allied with the side of Terror. At the end of that Age, the reigning Sather became the Champion of Wealth, & for the first time, they allied with reevers. He, however, was killed after less than a year, by the Champion of Hatred. None know for sure how or when the Sathers revived on Second Shem, but rumor has it that the last Sather on First Shem teleported to the Other World, Ruiz, to re-establish his criminal Empire & wait for the coming of Second Shem. By the Godless Times of Second Shem, they were an established power & protectors of various treasure holds. They went to war with the Reever Queen Rosiel Rhea & almost attained cult status. By the Age of Empires, they had been purged from Merukis but still held criminal power in the rest of the world. By about the beginning of the Age, they had formally organized into four groups: The Coin, the treasure-keepers; the Thorn, the assassins; the Foot, the thieves; & the Veil, the spies. The Sather rules all four parts, with his "Marshals" ruling the other four parts. Traditionally, the Coin-Marshal is a high ranking, corrupt official in the Wealth Church. The Thorn-Marshal is a doppleganger assassin of great skill. The Veil-Marshal is the Sather's Watcher (& has been since the First Sather). And the Foot-Marshal is usually the Sather's apprentice. |
| Notable members | Theodric Salvatore, the First Sather; Amrey Telle, the Champion of Wealth; Teloven the Great, occassional member; Thelser, current Sather |
| Rules | A constantly evolving set of guidelines, traditions, & hard rules guides the Order. Issues like how much of a job goes back to the Order, what part of the Order an individual is in, & what kind of work is officially sanctioned by the Order are fluid. Most of the hard rules involve enemies of the Order: the Champion of Hatred, the Reever Queen Rosiel Rhea (never certified dead), & the Reever King Rochar the Red (never certified dead). Tradition states that whichever member of the Order steals or acquires the Sword of Movement becomes the new Sather. However, tradition has also allowed outsiders to take over by acquiring the Sword. |
| Alliances | Temporary alliances are forged at need with whatever groups or individuals are aligned with the Order's goals. Membership in the churches of wealth, envy, travel, or silence is encouraged. Sathers are especially distrustful of Reevers, and vice versa. Previous alliances include the Order of the Chrysanthemum, the Runners, the Champion of Envy, & the Prince of Wealth. |
