Ophidians:

the serpentean nations are all based on snakes. Most nations are small, one or two villages, but some have formed major empires around Shem. Only the most common or notable are listed here. Other than certain parts of the Lyrilla region of Jesenranu, there are no regions of Shem without ophidian nations.

Adder Folk:
  • Gintodynt (common adder) (abuse): [old english] in western Jesenya, this ophidian nation is also a viper nation. A small nation, they are known for being servants of Hollow Jack.
  • Marangi (common death adder) (death): in the southeastern Island Bridge, this nation is notorious for their powerful assassins.
Bandy-Bandy Folk : Blind Snake Folk:
  • Hilang (gerrhopilidae) (darkness): in northeastern Dabusen, these folk are in scattered villages in the darkest reaches of the jungles, hidden in shadows.
  • Shaqo Joojin (reticulate blind snake) (silence): in eastern Taggarus, this nation is known for their arcanists.
Boa Folk:
  • Ihiyotzacua (boa constrictor) (might): in eastern Palhur, this nation is a large one stretched across several thousand miles of rainforest and rivers. Their culture considers physical strength to be the highest attribute, and they have wrestling contests which involve constricting one another.
  • Yacumayu: (green anaconda) (magic): the largest of all ophidians, the Yacumaya are known for their throughout major rainforests and rivers in eastern Palhur. They are very powerful in esoteric energies, but they avoid other nations and keep to themselves.
Cobra Folk :
  • Anobuthi (rinkhal) (justice): in southern Taggarus, this spitting cobra nation is a small one that is known throughout the region for their complex system of law and justice.
  • Khnngu: (northeastern Dabusenese spitting cobra) (pestilence): [thai] a particularly vicious nation who believe their venom is sacred.
  • Muqnae (mahadi cobra) (sun): a small but powerful nation on Mahad that are often mixed in with human nations wandering the deep deserts.
  • Naag Haavu (spectacled cobra/subcontinental cobra) (oppression): commonest of the cobra folk, this nation in subcontinental Dabusen is rival to the Khuni nation in terms of power in the region. They are major players in the worldwide slave trade.
  • Wadjeti (black desert cobra) (home): from northeastern Taggarus, this nation is small but known worldwide for their use of hegnh to create a barrier around their city.
Coral Snake Folk :
  • Sintihattak: (eastern coral snake) (hunt): [choctaw] in western Palhur, this nation of well known hunters is small but well respected.
Earth Snake Folk :
  • Hakuunu (smooth earth snake) (earth): [caddo] geomancers in western Palhur.
Garter Snake Folk :
  • Skuksiz (common garter snake) (games): [algonquin] small nation in western Palhur known for inventing a popular board game played all over the world.
  • Totol (mexican garter snake) (love): a small nation in central Palhur that controls a major sapphire mine.
Green Snake Folk :
  • Bagong (greater green snake) (swamp): [chinese] large nation in the Unbul area of Dabusen, living in swamp-forests and protecting sacred trees.
  • Kinepik (grass snake) (plains): [cree] in southern Palhur, nomadic nation that is small but powerful.
Ground Snake Folk :
  • Zhaaliabachi: (northern ground snake) (value): [apache] a small nation known for their control of gold and silver mines.
Hognose Snake Folk :
  • Emoseskano: (hognose snake) (equality): [cheyenne] a nomadic plains nation in Palhur who control a major territory.
House Snake Folk:
  • Adima (house snake) (word): [amharic] nation in eastern Taggarus who speak the First Language.
King Cobra Folk :
  • Khuni (king cobra) (ambition): in subcontinental Dabusen, they are a very powerful nation that are known for their deadly venom and devotion to the Mother of Serpents.
King Snake Folk :
  • Bellabishe (king snake) (fate): [zapotec] powerful nation in central Palhur that is known for their seers.
Krait Folk :
  • Memukul (krait) (agony): [indonesian] northeastern Dabusenese nation that suffered under the Agikaani Empire; they now have their own cruel empire that emulates their former oppressors.
Mamba Folk :
  • Mobalnyoka (black mamba) (fauna): [lingala] well known for being one of the deadliest ophidian nations, they are a matriarchal nation with small communities throughout Taggarus.
Pit Viper Folk:
  • Hadatala (mountain pit viper) (wind): [nepali] powerful nation in subcontinental Dabusen that controls several important passes through the mountains.
  • Junaktajisdahli (northern copperhead) (war): [cherokee] in western Palhur, this nation of warriors has a reputation in the region for isolation.
Python Folk:
  • Idasesile (ball python) (boundaries): [yoruba] strong western Taggaran nation who are fiercely territorial.
Rattlesnake Folk :
  • Tl'iish (rattlesnake) (truth): a southwestern Palhuric nation that rules a large empire in the deserts. They believe strongly in truth and honesty and consider certain lies to be worthy of capital punishment.
Sea Snake Folk :
  • Coloomong (faint-banded sea snake) (stillbirth): small nation in the southern Island Bridge known for their devotion to the Stillborn God and their powerful venom.
  • Ondanamo (striped sea snake) (water): large nation in the southern Island Bridge who control major passages through the Thousand Thousand.
Taipan Folk :
  • Palanang (inland taipan) (story): the deadliest nation of snake folk in the world, they are considered legendary. In the southern Island Bridge.
