| Description | Opatatums appear to be anthropomorphic hippopotamuses. They are huge (12' tall) with thick, heavy skin. They have barrel-shaped torsos, huge mouths and teeth, stubby legs, little to no hair. They have their eyes, nose, and ears on top of their heads to help them remain underwater. Their tails are long and thin. Their |

| Magic | One in five million have heart or soul magic. Mind and body magic are possible. Void is possible. Faith is not uncommon. |
| Special Powers | Opatatums are very strong. They are very good swimmers when they are young, but when they grow up, they are too big. However, they can walk along the riverbed and launch themselves rather gracefully through the water. They can move shockingly quickly. Their skeletons are very powerful, giving them even greater toughness. Opatatums secrete a natural chemical that turns red, then brown, all over their skin. It protects their tough but sensitive skin from the sun and kills bacteria. Underwater, the opatatums can use echolocation. They can come to the surface and send out a shout in both water and the air at once. Opatatums can ward pregnant mothers at will. They are very brave, virile, and dangerous. They are immune to lightning, evil energies, and entropy. Opatatums can learn languages very quickly. |

| Culture | Opatatums are semi-aquatic. They live in pods by the rivers, eating on land, but spending most of their time in the water. They are very territorial in the water, but tend not to care on land--strangers share houses. They aren't social, but neither are they asocial. They are deal makers instead. |
