Omar was one of the PeopleOfTheWind who was apprenticed to a monastary of Hurshul. He stole the BracersOfDestruction from the monastary to stave off their corrupting influence on his order's leaders and joined a travelling circus, where he met the TheMessiahOfHope. During these travels, he revealed the gospel of the Watchers and recovered WallCrusher, which he used to end the imprisonment of the gods, including his own patron, Hurshul, who he then served directly.

During the war at the end of first Shem, Hurshul was weakened, and possessed Omar's body to become a new god of time, thereafter known as Hurshul-Omar.
