Nusayr once worked as a firefighter in Haenor, but when he refused to let a home burn when someone didn't have insurance, he was fired. He turned to drinking, then got arrested for getting into fights, and was soon recruited to the Green Grith after getting caught drunkenly trying to burn down a rich man's house. He has a major temper, but his power over fire is the best in the organization.
