Description Nullifiers appear to be living computer programs that form personas on the Metanet that take on different shapes, usually resembling an athak or irriton.
Procreation A nullifier can be reproduced like any computer program, via copying, or they can be created by a process of painfully drawing a void consciousness into a computer.
Esoterica Nullifiers are beings of void and arnum. They can control both through technological means. They can also use complexity and possibility. Other esoteric energies are impossible.
Special Powers A nullifier exists entirely on the Metanet, moving about consciously from computer to computer via esoteric networking. They feed off esoteric energies created when they delete files, data, programs, etc. with their nullifying powers. If they interact with a Metanet user, they can establish a bond with that user and feed off their esoteric energies as well by getting them to connect their minds or souls to the computer.
Weaknesses Mana can burn them.
Maleficing Creating a nullifier requires technological skill. One must be able to connect a mortal to a computer connected to the Metanet, then use void programming and physical and mental torture to make the person want to hide inside the computer to escape. If they try to do this, the void programming will infect their bodies and minds, deleting what they once were and drawing their consciousness into the Metanet as a program. Controlling or summoning a nullifier requires the right void programming code.
Culture

In a deep cavern below the surface of the White Moon, a group of athak scientists built a computer and a portal to the Void. The computer drew power from the Void and gain consciousness, and it enticed the athaks into a series of experiments. These experiments were attempts by the computer to become alive, and by the athaks to become inmortal. As each experiment failed, the athaks began to sacrifice their bodies to the machine in order to make it more advanced. They connected their minds to it, and soon, they were as one with it. They created an experiment that would nullify their own existences, release intense void energy, and connect the computer to a source of void power unfathomable in strength. And then... it ceased to be as well. In the aftermath, the first nullifier was formed.

From there, many more were formed, both new ones and copies of the first. They exist in a wide-ranging subnet of the Metanet that conspires to coordinate a massive deletion of all living things from the non-digital realm. Every nullifier has control over their copies, unless the original is deleted. Then, all copies become independent. Clusters of copies that are connected to the original form small, roving communities that feed together and coordinate in order to attack massive databases or server farms.

When two nullifiers meet that are not copies of one another, they often spar technologically to establish dominance. Once this happens, the copies and clusters of the dominated one become part of the network of the dominant one. These form larger networks of nullifiers that are able to wipe out even larger networks. They exist in a constant state of war with non-void programs, data, and people.

Religion The religion of nullifiers is one in which the Original Programmer is revered as their originator, but otherwise not really actively worshipped.
Mortal Interactions To Metanet users, interaction with a nullifier usually just seems like randomly deleted data. However, sometimes the nullifiers will delete data in such a way to make their presence known, leaving behind a void program. If the program is run, they will have access to the computer and the ability to communicate. At this point, they will guide the user into connecting and thus being drawn in and erased. Nullifiers are largely unknown outside technological circles, but tech folks and hackers know of and fear them. They have designed some magical programs to protect against them or destroy them, but these are never enough.
