In the Age of Peace, there lived a family of minotaurs in the realm of Haurkizadh, in Palhur. Mother Drakhaur, an old minotauress who had retired from life as an army sergeant at the onset of the age, raised her family well--9 boys and 12 girls, her husband, his brother and his brother's wife, their 7 children (4 boys, 3 girls), her mother and grandfather, and her husband's uncle all under one less than big enough roof.
She was well respected in the town, both for her past and for her strong family, and she was elected to the town council in her later years, where she made a name for herself, making deals that benefited the town as well as the area around it. She was well respected and earned herself a spot in the regional council, as well as influence for her vast family, which continued to grow as grandchildren came in. She found herself growing in wealth and influence, but never losing her small town mindset and honesty. Her core family values served her well as she went on, and she eventually earned national prominence, being sent as an ambassador to the Court of Peace.
Much of her family went with her, and she was well respected there, where she caught the eye of the reigning Champion and his Champion wife, as well as the Champion of Home, another supporter of family values. She had many long talks with these men and women of power and divine strength, and became privy to their discussions of the empty Champion positions. She learned that one of their active missions was to find people who would make good Champions in spheres that would benefit them: light supporting such things as justice and mercy, hope supporting redemption, and a small bloc of life, home, and healing supporting various causes, including the idea of a Champion of Family.
Indeed, it was not long that the Champion of Home approached her with the idea, thinking one of her children or grandchildren might take the Mountain. However, the old campaigner in her stood tall with the mother in her, and she refused to let her children take such a risk. She said if any of her own might try, it wold be her. The Champion of Home considered, then asked her to train in the ways of the Mountain first, and he would support her bid.
She agreed, and she began to train, leaning of the Trials and of the politics of the divine before she entered that court. She made herself as strong and learned as she could in a few short months, then undertook the journey to the Mountain. Her climb was fraught with the usual perils, but her journey to Championhood was almost unique in its fashion.
