Sometimes referred to as "fairytale knights" (derogatorily) because their arms and armor, horses, and clothing is always finery and fantastical, the Niffelische ritter are not the weaklings they are accused of being. Much of their fienry is a result of glamours and other magics, though much is just vanity. Vanity, however, does not impede their training.

Of all the Kerupene ritter, the Niffelische are the least likely to be corrupt. They have a large pantheon they make vows to, a cycle of Divines who represent different parts of their lives and code:
  • the Shepherdess: a reminder of the humility needed to be chivalrous and their duty to serve the commoners.
  • Lady Justice: she who guides them to be vessels of the king's justice.
  • Lord Dreamer: he who allows them rest and quiet contemplation.
  • the Armorer: he who patrons the smiths, grooms, servants, and others who make their duties possible.
  • Mother of the Hearth: she who protects their homes and guides them in the rules of hospitality.
  • Lady Truth: she who reveals to them the truth, for which they fight.
  • Lady Sanctuary: she who raises up the weak and brings low tyrants.
  • Lord Valor: he who grants their hearts fortitude in the face of danger.
  • Lord Wise: he who gives them insight and wisdom.
  • the Iridal Queen: she who rules heaven and provides strength and mercy to all knights.
They make vows to all of these Divines, and thus, they must make regular devotions to all of them to retain their vow and the attendant power that comes with it.

Niffelische ritter serve the King of Niffel, who is a man who loves pomp and circumstance, a dashing romantic figure. He fancies himself also a ritter, though he is not truly as well trained. They retain the fiction for his sake, however, and often intentionally lose to him in melees and tourneys. They love their king and would die for him.

Notable Niffelische ritter:
  • Herr Adalolt: legendary ritter who quests eternally for a lost lorelai.
  • Herr Henkel: the king's old friend and bodyguard and keeper, leader of the knights.
  • Herr Ortolf: known for his heroics against invading forces, monsters, and corruption.
