Some say mios are simply an immature form of a kitsune, but it seems that they are actually just a very similar but not intelligent animal. They can only gain up to three tails as they age, and their powers are much weaker than their yokai cousins.

Unlike kitsunes, they cannot shapeshift. They do carry dream messages, much like leid deargs, and are known to help people fall asleep.

They fear dogs, eat rats, and charm people (but do not possess them as a kitsune might). They can project their consciousness as they sleep to see and hear things in other parts of the world, but not nearly as far as a kitsune can.

They can create fire by sparking their tails togetehr, appear in people's dreams, and fly. The illusions they create are instintively created during times of panic or pleasure and usually just heighten the reality around them. A mio can affect the mind of a person, causing them to hallucinate, via their musk.
