Description At birth, all dragons look like large, pink worms. At maturity, mercury dragons grow to be three-headed serpents of fiery mercury light, with tails like those of comets.
Procreation Dragons mate with each other only. Without intense supernatural interference, half-dragons are an impossibility. Dragons lay one to three eggs at a time. Upon hatching, a dragon immediately begins absorbing background energies. All dragon eggs are filled with pure, liquid draconic energy, which sustains the baby dragon upon hatching.
Esoterica Mercury dragons have accumulated great amounts of flux and shebv heya. Possibility, light, winds aether, sol angelic and lunar aether, astral aether, and Damaskian power are also common. Other powers vary greatly.
Special Powers

Dragons gain new powers as they accumulate more energies. At each stage of growth, they gain a new ability, usually culminating with the twelfth ability when they accumulate . The usual progression of powers is as follows:

  • Level 1: Quicksilver light beam breath weapon
  • Level 2: Immunity to poisons
  • Level 3: Immunity to paralysis
  • Level 4: Immunity to mental illness
  • Level 5: Scale grants bearere speed
  • Level 6: Zone of teleportation
  • Level 7: Infinite door, once per year
  • Level 8: Control winds
  • Level 9: Radar
  • Level 10: Know territory, 10 mile radius
  • Level 11: Summon nibiruns
  • Level 12: FTL speed

All dragons accumulate energies by absorbing them naturally from the area around them. As such, they must carefully cultivate their lairs to provide the right kinds of energies, hence they hoard appropriate objects.

Other common powers include instill endurance, instill wanderlust, control movement, teleporting gaze, lighten load, and planar gating.

Alternate Forms Mercury dragons sometimes take the form of a footpad.
Weaknesses Anything that binds a mercury dragon in place will kill it.
Subspecies Inertial dragons have accumulated so much flux and shebv heya that they cannot stop, becoming blurs of matter that streak through the atmosphere. They warp reality around them and pull everything with them until they burn out.
Culture Mercury dragons lay their eggs in the caves on the underside of floating islands. They care for their young, but they don't remain long. Young mercury dragons survive at a rate of two in three. When they reach maturity, they become nomadic for much of their lives (kren-risil), gathering followers and building a hoard, before returning to their home tribes and flying in migratory patterns. They mate when they return home, and when they grow old, they usually fly off into the atmosphere to die.
