| Culture | Menninkäinen live in northern Ranu, near the northern coasts. They are on the eastern edge of the Indigo Sea, where they dwell in boreal forests in small nomadic communities. Their culture is very different from the main goblin culture; they have left behind the tyrannical hierarchies that dominate their homeland. Menninkäinen children are raised by the nomadic community they live in, learning their history and how to follow the winds of fortune. They are considered adults sometime between the ages of 16 and 21, though the community is never very strict about this. Children are taught from a young age about the community's traditions and trained in a specific role or craft from about the age of 13. They are called into adulthood through a small ceremony when the elders deem them ready. The tasks of the communtiy are simple: acquire food, water, and shelter each day; tell the old stories; and trust the winds of fortune. Every morning, the community's elders consult the winds and let them guide them. Menninkäinen love riddles. |
