| Description | Menacers have external shells made of solid brass, fashioned in a quasispherical shape. Internally, they are a complex system of wires, processors, and storage devices made of many different materials. The sphere has five cable-tentacles, each one ending in a different tool, and four more rigid extensions ending in either claws or wheels, which is how they move. These tools vary by individuals. In the very heart of a menacer is a feiruan jewel-CPU designed to contain emotional energies and a living froemmler. |
| Procreation | Menacers build new menacers when they harvest enough emotions from victims, particularly hatred, and if they have the right materials to create a new one (the equivalent of approximately 12 meters of brass, plus enough conductive metals, plastics, and possibly diamonds or other materials). |
| Esoterica | Menacers are beings of feirua, hatred resonance, and complexity. They can use these energies and any other emotional resonance save for love. Other possible energies include any infernal energy, Damaskian powers, gebvel, and paradoxical energies. |
| Special Powers | A menacer's tools have different powers, all of them related to either harming others, building or repairing machines, or affecting emotions. Menacers can upgrade their tools as time goes on. Every menacer can open part of its shell and unleash a blast of feiruan fire or a beam of feiruan light that will burn anyone capable of emotion. They require heat to function. |
| Mind | The mind of a menacer is their CPU, which is designed to be capable of emotion. Consciousness is present in almost all menacers, as is a certain level of individuality. A weak hive mind links menacers, allowing them to recognize other menacers. |
| Senses | Menacers have the power to sense emotion. Anyone not feeling a certain level of hatred is considered "different" and subject to extermination. They have basic visual, auditory, and tactile senses as well. |
| Engineering | Engineering on menacers requires a high degree of multiscience, plus feiruan arts. One can control a menacer either by distracting its sensors or by inserting a feiruan jewel under one's own control. Mechanical or cyber control is impossible. |
| Weaknesses | Dumaqu can harm a menacer. Intense cold can shut them down. |
| National Culture | The prime directive of menacers is the extermination of anyone different. They live in small hives in abandoned fortresses in the Subterranean Realm where once the froemmlers ruled an empire. They have a set of rules and rituals that they follow in order to protect themselves from a return of their former masters, whom they view as torturers who made them come alive, which they resent. Their original purpose to protect them froemmlers has evolved into the need to kill anyone capable of feeling anything but hatred, which is all they know. Their hives have no hierarchy. The connection between them all allows them to know enough of what the others are experiencing that they can operate in a mostly synchronized manner. If they keep to the rules and rituals, they never stray too far. Those who do are deemed different and destroyed. The rules are all based around where they can go, how many times they can perform a task, and which tasks to perform. The rituals are all about the specific movements they must undertake in certain places in their fortress hives. These are reflections of their previously programmed guard routines, but they have long forgotten this. Every menacer takes up different tasks at different times, usually in about a 96 hour cycle. Tasks include but are not limited to mining, smelting, smithing, building new menacers, programming, crafting feiruan jewels, patrolling the outer reaches, repairing the fortress, or going out hunting for victims. |
| Outside View | Menacers are unknown above the surface, but below the surface, they are seen as extremely dangerous. It is believed they are infinite and cannot be wholly destroyed, only contained. The rare menacer who escapes and leaves into the outside world usually loses control and begins killing everyone, as almost everyone they would meet would experience emotions other than hatred. This usually ends in their being destroyed. |
