Brother to Arjuna del Rey, Manuel grew up in the shadow of two great warriors. He was never much of a fighter himself, instead turning to negotiation & diplomacy. When he came of age, he became an assistant to the ambassador to Krena'atan. He soon rose in rank & became a full fledged ambassador himself, earning him a comfortable spot in Akazad.

As a young man, he talked his sister out of going on a mission while pregnant, feeling it would endanger her unborn child, at the least. He arranged for noble women to attend her as she rested, one of which ended up poisoning her to death. Ever since, the guilt of this has eaten him alive, finding his only solace in the forgiveness of his friend Damon, his niece Datuna, & the work before him.

Eventually, he met a repeater woman ho helped him to ease hi guilt completely, showing him the truth of his past better than he could have guessed. He fathered a son on her, but the two drifted apart shortly after--he loved her dearly, but she knew nothing could come of it. Instead, he took to seeing to it his son was well cared for.

At current, he is in Ienova working with Damon to keep the peace & restore the throne.
