Lyota'im was born to a family that is amongst the lowest in Evernorthern society. He had no rank, no money, and no connections. He was, effectively, insignificant. Growing up in the bitter cold made no matter to him, but the scorn of those who should be his peers left him lusting after revenge. He sought out power the only way he could find: military service. His life as a survivor served him well, and he rose in the ranks, ending up in the special forces as an elite survival expert. This brought him to the attention of the Order of White Winter, who actively recruited him. His hardiness is what he accounts for keeping the elf-killer disease away from him.
His trial to join the Order was to swim across Lake Hereldai, the coldest lake in the world, in the dead of winter, naked, underwater for as much of it as possible. If he did not succeed, and his failure did not kill him, he would be executed. He was allowed two requests before hand so long as they did not contradict any stated rules. He asked only that the swim take place at night and that he be promised a meal of seal and wine at the end. Without hesitation, he dove into the lake.
One of the features of the vast, cold lake was miniature icebergs. Given the ubiquity of said icebergs, the powerful underwater currents, and the uniformity of water, it was easy to get disoriented in the lake. Anything less than a perfect crossing would mean certain death. Lyota'im became lost after two hours of hard swimming, and he began to believe himself facing such a death, until the clouds above parted and the north star was revealed to him. He swam the remaining four hours guided by the star, and when he came to shore, he chose the Frozen Star as his sigil.
Lyota'im is one of three Knights sent to find and slay the owner of the Gelid Blood.
