In the Empireof Akazad, elven nobles hold on to their ancestral titles & even some of their ancestral lands, but have no real power to sway the government. They are figureheads used to keep the common elves from resisting the rule of the dwarves. Most elven nobles do not care, for their comfortable lifestyle is unhindered, but some find the lack of power a direct insult to their heritage. Some elven nobles were bred to rule.
Lyllandra grew up learning about power. She learned about control, about politics, & about using the system before her. She yearned for more, & she set out to get it. In the Empire of Akazad, most dwarves don't want to deal with the rest of the world. They are gruff, rough & ready sorts who prefer their tools or their trade than any diplomatic work. Thus, the diplomatic corps goes to whomsoever wishes to take the job. Lyllandra, having leanred of the complexities of the Empire of Maraddon in her education, jumped at the chance to join the diplomatic corps there.
Within a few years, she had cemented her position as Ambassador to Maraddon, even gaining an apartment in the Imperial Palace in Maraddon City. A long life of courting ice elven males, who had a cool, calm, & passionless temperment, had lead her to seek her entertainments elsewhere. She quickly got bored with the consorts & concubines available, of the Maraddonian nobles just seeking power & influence in Akazad, of the poetic lovers & effete playboys. She sought a truly passionate man, & she found him in the form of the Captain of the Imperial Guard.
Nine months later, she gave birth to a son, Paul Driver. Her duties forced her away from Maraddon, & she felt her sonwould have a better life in the Imperial Palace of Maraddon rather than the icy fields of Evernorth in Akazad, so she left Paul with his father.
Over the next century or so, she learned she could use her power in a variety of ways, including in lending a hand to the elven resistance, which was growing once again in Akazad. Her contacts lead her to a variety of skilled individuals in the resistance, including Meglanna Rhenn, a drow elven warrior, & Samara Rhendelfane, a drow elven heart mage. She also ended up meeting in the latter half of the century a noble of Maraddon named Damon Argent, one of the few who couldmatch her politically & match the Imperial Guard who caught her eye in passion. To her distress, she never quite convinced Damon to engage in the same entertainments.
Her skill at organizing & coordinating lead to a newly powerful surge of the elven resistance. Her connections in Maraddon allowed her to buy weapons, armor, & magic to fight the dwarves, but soon, she was found out & forced to flee to Maraddon permanently.
While there, she reestablished contact with her son, Paul, & many of her old friends. She became embroiled in certain local politics while simultaneously keeping in contact with ehr forces in Akazad. When the Empire of Maraddon crumbled, she took refuge in certain safe houses. However, the Fool of Chaos found her & raped her despite her protections, & now she bears his child.
She has since made her way to Ienova, where she was secreted past the invading army of Atanaxans. She lends her organizing skills to the struggle there, while trying to contact her forces.
