Lores

Lores are learned knowledge. They are usually not applied to an active skill, but rather, information someone has studied. This includes studies and sciences one might learn in any school as well as magical and spiritual lores found in the setting. In some places, there is a "lore" version and a scientific version of a specific knowledge - animal lore vs. zoology, for example. This differentiates between more mystical knowledge and scientific understanding.

Lores operate on the same score-scaling as skills.

Basic Lores

Basic lores are ones that anyone might have in the time period, place, and culture of the campaign. This varies by campaign, but usually, characters will have some awareness of local events, history, and folklore just by being alive in a time and a place. These do not have to be justified by backstory unless the scores are over 10.

Common Lores

These are much more varied. These are lores that would be had by people are aware, educated, older, or somehow tapped into the times, places, or cultures of the campaign. These are things people would know if they are savvy, engaged, or paying attention to what is going on. Some common examples are current events, politics, legends, religious lore (if the character is religious or grew up in a religion), or lores specific to the campaign.

Professional Lores

These are lores tied to the occupation of the character. For examples, a soldier might have military lore, tactical knowledge, or military history. A wrangler might have animal lore, zoology, or both. A witch or esotericist would have many lores. Scholars or scientists would have many lores or sciences relevant to their area of study.

Uncommon Lores

These are lores that must be justified by special mentions in the character's backstory, usually via a hobby, past occupation, part of their upbringing, or some special part of their story. A soldier who is an amateur poet might have a score in poetry. A thief who stole and read a book on dragons might have a low score in dragon lore. A person who retired from being an actor to become a scholar might have knowledge of dramaturgy and theatrical lore as well as their own focus of professional study.

Specific Lores

Some species have their own lores or sciences that they are culturally or even inherently connected to. Fairies often have fairy/fey lore. Species who are privileged or often ruling class in imperial societies will have lores or points of view influenced by that background. Species who are from the skies or seas might have knowledge and lore of those regions.

Languages

Languages are all given scores to reflect how well someone knows them. A person who grows up speaking a language will have a 9 in it automatically. A person who studies that language in depth will have an 11 - the equivalent of an English teacher or professional writer. A person who learns a second language will have anything from a 1 (knowing a few words) to an 6 (being fluent but with an accent and occasional trouble with idioms) to an 8 (fluent but accented) to an 10 (fluent and almost indistinguishable from a native speaker). Anything higher than an 11 is expert. This mostly comes up in situations of trying to understand others or reading other languages.
