The savannah played a large role in the spread of Belle Point. Back in the early days, prides of lions were plaguing the herds that the local farmers kept, so the old city leaders built a massive hide-and-wood fence around the herding grounds, leaving four or five gates for commerce and travel. Lion's Gate is named for the gate most notorious for opening up to prides.
Bounded by Wall Access Road A to the south, Glimmer Avenue and La Bella Arc to the west, the Union Lines to the east, and Farmer's Market Road to the north, Lion's Gate is a sprawling slum that was once a farming community, then a noted middle class neighborhood.
