A leontophone is a small creature that kills lions if they bite it. If the leontophone is burnt and its ashes placed into meat and left at a crossroads, this too will kill the lion, even if the lion only eats a very small amount. Furthermore, the urine of a leontophone is also deadly poisonous to a lion. Leontophones are small pests that infest towns and villages, and people often train lions to rend them with their claws rather than eat them so to drive them off, but many lions are openly afraid of leontophones. Leontophones appear to be different depending on who is looking. They either take the form of a small boar, bear, serpent, or worm.
