Description At birth, all dragons look like large, pink worms. At maturity, lead dragons grow to be dusty black beasts with huge muscular, scaled, bull-like bodies, eight-horned reptilian heads, and razor sharp claws.
Procreation Dragons mate with each other only. Without intense supernatural interference, half-dragons are an impossibility. Dragons lay one to three eggs at a time. Upon hatching, a dragon immediately begins absorbing background energies. All dragon eggs are filled with pure, liquid draconic energy, which sustains the baby dragon upon hatching.
Esoterica Lead dragons accumulate great amounts of Damaskian power and muscle. Shebv heya, gebvel, blood, arnum, determination resonance, anger resonance, white tiger aether, earthpower, rubedian aether, currents aether, fundamental aether, hegnh, Foundation, and divine energies are common. Other powers vary.
Special Powers

Dragons gain new powers as they accumulate more energies. At each stage of growth, they gain a new ability, usually culminating with the twelfth ability when they accumulate . The usual progression of powers is as follows:

  • Level 1: Concussive blast breath weapon
  • Level 2: Immunity to edged weapons
  • Level 3: Immunity to muscle atrophy
  • Level 4: Immunity to paralysis
  • Level 5: Scale grants bearer strength
  • Level 6: Wall of lead
  • Level 7: Pulverizing force, once per year
  • Level 8: Control magma
  • Level 9: Sense weakness
  • Level 10: Impose need for a feat
  • Level 11: Summon Wathites
  • Level 12: Impervious body, 10 hours/day

All dragons accumulate energies by absorbing them naturally from the area around them. As such, they must carefully cultivate their lairs to provide the right kinds of energies, hence they hoard appropriate objects.

Other common powers include instill strength, instill willpower, telekinesis, mountaincrushing gaze, and armybreaking roar.

Alternate Forms Lead dragons sometimes take the form of a constrictor.
Weaknesses Despair resonance can weaken them.
Subspecies Power dragons have accumulated more Damaskian power and muscle than most, becoming pure concussive force. They blast in a direct line through solid matter for a few hours then burn out.
Culture Lead dragons lay their eggs in mountain caves, where they tend their young at a remove, nudging them but not coddling them, not even really helping them much. One in three survive, but most grow up to be very angry. Lead dragons live in clans ruled by the strongest of them, and they make alliances only with those who will strengthen them. They build their hoards through alliance and conquest. They detest the weak and constantly push them to be stronger, but they never banish any dragon. The weak simply serve until they are strong enough not to. When they get old, they usually pick fights with bigger and bigger foes until they are slain. Those that die of old age are sung about for Ages to come.
