| Description | A krole appears to be the heavily decomposed body of a mortal with mold and vegetation growing on it. Their hands are blackened claws, and their eyes are rolled back in their heads if they have any left. They usually are accompanied by a cloud of insects. |
| Corruption | Krole are formed when someone seeks to hide from their grievous misdeeds in deep swamp, wetland, bog, marsh, etc. and dies, usually from the venoms or poisons of the swamp creatures, a disease, or betrayal. However, they do not form right away, but after the body has decomposed and become part of the swamp, being possessed then by the vile energies of the swamp and the msawhat in their corrupted soul. |
| Esoterica | Krole are beings of msawhat and vile energy. They are mindless bodies, however, with little control over supernatural powers that must be used with skill. |
| Special Powers | Krole cause unease in those who are near them, and they stink of rot and death to the point of causing sharp, uncontrollable nausea. They can command swamp vegetation and sense everything in their territories when they are submerged in swamp water or under swamp mud. Their bite and claws are heavily toxic, and they can control the insect swarms that follow them with their grunts and groans. Mundane weaponry can harm them and stop them, but they will keep attacking until something supernatural sends them or they are completely eradicated. |
| Necromancy | Krole often happen because of happenstance. Swamps attract many who wish to escape their crimes, but the swamps are often deadly and dangerous. However, a necromancer can create a krole via use of msawhat and vile energy without even being near a swamp; however, without the swamp, the krole is nearly powerless. Making one within a swamp is crucial. Controlling a krole requires only a moderate amount of msawhat and vile energy if the two are used in tandem (10), but more signifcant amounts if either is alone (13). As krole are mindless and almost animalistic, there are few ways to control one without direct supernatural skill, save perhaps tempting them with food. However, they will eat any flesh they can sense. To summon one requires similar levels of each power, but it can be simplified within the swamp they krole dwells in. Capturing and using the powers of a krole requires only removing it from the swamp where it is empowered. However, often the cost of using their powers is sickness or mental deterioration. |
| Sending | If their bodies are completely destroyed, they will be sent, even by mundane weaponry. |
| Weaknesses | White gold, silver, ailsilver, and living ailsilver will send a krole if used in weaponry. Curacion, light of compassion, compassion resonance, and qi are especially effective against them, but any heavenly essence will harm them. The gates can send them as well. |
| Behavior | Krole stalk the swamps they dwell in, hunting for flesh to devour. They are mostly animalistic and mindless, but they have cunning and power. |
| Dominion Culture | In the Dun Dominion, krole are dangerous beasts used to protect wetland fortresses where the cult keeps hidden treasures, powers, and bases. They are lower than slaves, treated as abused dogs. |
| Other Dominions | In every Dominion, krole are used as guard beasts, though this almost never happens among the Wapek, Raesian, Kaanian, Campionese, Qhanuum, and Godless. In the Srisian Dominion, their poisons are much stronger. Among the Fellwood, their stench is stronger. Among the Durosians, their sense of their territory more keen, and among the Agikaani, their claws are more painful. Some exist in Sangarian and Pandemonian Dominions, they have stronger swarm control. |
| Mortal Interactions | Those who live near swamps often speak of krole as part of the dangers of the swamp, the kinds of things that happen to those who seek to hide there. They are considered extreme predators. |
| Afterlife | Most krole are not redeemed simply because few every try, but it is possible when they are sent via heavenly essences, qi, or compassion resonance. They often spend a few millennia in the in-between and end up in the Hells. |
