| History | In the earliest days of Shem, when the forces of nature drove mortality, certain members of the primitive societies that existed then noticed & took to revering these forces, seeking power over the world & safety from the ravages of nature. From this primitive idea of nature worship grew organized religion. By the time the First War of the Gods came to Shem, the churches were completely organized, mighty pillars of civilization, but many had no need to have a martial arm--very few were in open conflict or had need of a policing force. However, the War of the Gods changed all that. It is said that the Knights of the Crescent were created by Mysana herself, choosing Sir Vohaeus from a group of unlikely worshippers to lead her forces across the expanse of space, through the orbits, to face the forces of the Guardians. In order to be effective servants, she granted them various powers: invisibility in moonlight, sacred crescent scythes that would seal a man's air supply, magical flying steeds that could safely carry them through the cosmos, & the ability to make moonsilver as hard as steel. Since, they have served as warders of the orbits, keepers of the secrets of the faith, & true knights. |
