| Forms | Most kiirs are briefly extant, a strong wind that survives and moves throughout the world by never stopping. These take the form of a breeze or stronger wind with no real form beyond that. Once they gain in strength, they often take a cloud, dust, or other material to give themselves a visible form. This ornamentation gives them definition and allows them to center on something, and the power to form a face. As they gain in strength, they will either take on a more humanoid form made of their chosen ornamentation or a whirlwind form, the latter of which will cause them to lose energy much faster. |
| Procreation | Kiirs cannot form unless they have enough winds aether to last for at least a year. They form out of other kiirs as strands of winds break off. |
| Esoterica | Kiirs are beings of winds aether. Weaker kiirs have some command over the energy, but only the stronger ones learn other arts, usually based on other characteristics of their associated area or pattern. |
| Special Powers | As beings made of wind, kiirs have command of their own selves that allows them to move objects to the degree their strength allows. They can also command weaker winds around them, or stagnant air, to move. As they gain strength, they gain powers such as the power to hear over vast distances, the ability to draw winds together into stronger winds, the power to take the breath from someone's body, the language of birds and other things that fly, or to sing such that the air becomes still. When a kiir has a locus, it works differently than other elementals, as the locus is mobile, usually a wind pattern or part of the sky. These give them even greater powers still. |
| Collective Powers | When four or more kiirs come together, they either fight (thus destroying each other in a whirlwind) or combine into a greater kiir, taking on a locus. If four or more kiirs have the same pattern or move in the same direction, they can create a massive gale. If they move in opposing directions, they create tornados. If they coil about each other, they usually take on part of the sky as a locus. |
| Elementalism | Anyone who breathes air can bond with a kiir, though it is easier for those with innate winds aether or users of the energy. All it requires is to breathe in part of the kiir and a willingness on both sides to bond. Bonding gives the mortal a lighter body, stronger breath, and greater hearing. Stronger kiir give their bondees command over the air. Forced bonding requires trapping the kiir in an airtight vessel via some other art (gebvel, earthpower, white tiger aether, mana, ethereal energy, imperium, parasitic energy, yahas, or some other power). Winds aether can then be drawn from the kiir and used to control air in many ways. Any druid who can breathe can commune with kiirs. This is one of the easiest forms of elemental communion, but the effects are often brief if the kiir is not very powerful. They gain similar powers to those who bond with kiirs, plus the power to speak to birds, the ability to sense moving air anywhere nearby, and greater control of winds. Windsingers and dancers can wield a kiir's power by singing or dancing with them. |
| Weaknesses | If a kiir is sealed in something air-tight, it will eventually die. Brown aether destroys them. Earthpower and white tiger essence can be used to slow them down. |
| Behavior | Kiirs are mercurial beings. They flit about, seeking movement and freedom. They never stop moving for very long, even if it is only internal. They protect the skies and keep the winds moving as they should be, maintaining the system of air throughout the world. |
| Mortal Interactions | Most mortals know nothing of kiirs, but sailors, zailors, and windfarmers are especially aware of them, seeing them as beings to befriend. Windsingers and dancers seek them out as partners to gain skill, and the People of the Wind view them as aspects of the Skyfather. |
