A burly & capable human, Kail was once an aspiring Imperial guardsman. He worked hard to make it into the Imperial guard, but was kicked out for a moment's weakness--he got drunk on his birthday with a few visiting friends. Damon, not liking it when potential goes to waste, offered him a job in the Torches as a houseguard. Not having many other options so appealing, he accepted.

It became clear very soon that Kail was not only a skilled guardsman, but also a talented administrator. He rose quickly through the ranks, becoming second to Sir Asuncion while he was Captain. When Asuncion betrayed them, Kail was working with Damon out of the country. Upon their return, Damon made Paul Captain. Kail, knowing full well Captain only goes to people with special bonds to the family, did not feel slighted in the least. He looks forward to working with Paul, & he feels the choice of a long-lived race to be a clever one.

Kail is currently looking through the pool of prospecitve recruits previously compiled & finding new Torches, while maintaining the ones that survived.
