| Island | Jokisaaris live on narrow, rocky islands in river inlets near the seas. They have a species memory of the Island of Eternity, and they seek to fashion a broken mirror of it. They gain strength by communing with the island and the emotional resonance of their community, and when they are on their islands, they are invincible and impervious to physical attacks. They also gain the power on their island to sense the emotions of others around them. Outside the island, they do not have this empathic power. |
| Special Powers | A jokisaari gains strength and skill from resisting fear. They test themselves in extreme circumstances to become stronger, transforming fear resonance into physical power. If they are wounded, they can turn their own blood into a strength serum that others can imbibe. Jokisaaris can also bond with animals via emotional resonance. |
| Weaknesses | If they fail to resist fear resonance, it can drain their physical strength. |
| Culture | A jokisaari island is a combination of a hunting, fishing, and warrior community. They live in small, protected communities that favor safety for the more vulnerable members of the community. Their villages are led by a council of elders, and everyone takes part in training and teaching the young, though primary caregivers are the extended family. The main source of resource for the communities is fishing and limited farming, and they trade with other communities often. When a jokisaari reaches the late adolescence, they are given the opportunity to go on a quest or complete a special task for the village to prove their bravery. These quests usually give the youth their adult name and proves their role to the village. If they fail, they have another chance every ten years. Failure, however, does not mean not completing the task, but succumbing to fear.
