A cypress of legendary beauty and size, it was a symbol of the Goddess of Truth. It was planted by the Honest Man in honor of the conversion of a great king. Centuries later, a Caliph visited and fell in love with the tree. He plotted for many years on how to get it, and after a small insult to his ambassador, he threatened war unless they met his demands, one of which was the tree. The king at the time knew he had no choice, so he felled the tree himself. The wood was sent to the Caliph, but before it arrived, a soldier of a different nation murdered the Caliph. The blood of the Caliph stained the floor where he fell, and when the wood of the tree was brought to the Caliphate, one of the seeds from the tree, caught in the lumber, fell into stain... and a new tree grew, destroying the Caliph's palace. From then on, any who looked upon the tree would be met with unpleasant truths about themselves.
