| Fashioning | Iussum have the ability to fashion vonzot into physical matter. If they wish to make an object that is imbued with energies other than vonzot, they must have access to that energy at the time of fashioning. Vonzot fashioning is done primarily with the hands (though those who have lost their hands have found ways to work fashioning with feet, legs, arms, and even their eyes). By focusing their attentions on the vonzot around them (which they can sense), they are able to take hold of it and weave it together into matter. |

| Culture | The iussum found a series of warm springs in the great northern tundra, much as their other demihuman cousins did, but took the power of their warmth into the solid ice to live, using their powers to shape a beautiful icy city that is none-the-less warm. It is imbued with systemic energies from Ages past, making it impenetrable by entropic powers. It is the only place they feel truly safe. Because of this, they are very isolated. Their city is a rigid ecclesiastic hierarchy run by a council of judges, who are chosen by strict elections that happen every millennium. Every child goes to school from the age of 10 til they pass a series of exams that determine their career path, which they can change by taking other classes and tests if they so choose. Children are raised in extended families and sent to boarding schools for eight months of the year. Courtships are usually arranged, and those that aren't must be approved by the parents of all parties involved. All genders are respected, but they are heavily defined. Iussum have three major sectors of society: the courts, the workers, and the clergy. The courts are the most powerful, being the governing force in the city. Judges are elected and lead the government. Legal agents like lawyers, barristers, etc. are the only ones eligible to run for election as a judge, but anyone can study to be a legal agent. Other members of the courts--clerks, scribes, etc.--are afforded special rank in society. The workers make up the bulk of society and have their own unions. These are the only people who may vote. The unions keep order amongst the workers and make sure everyone in the community is taken care of, and the workers decide on who leads them out of the courts. The clergy are the smallest and weakest segment of the society. They cannot vote and may not dictate the law, but they are keepers of The Law. They enforce Divine Law amongst the iussum, but they are rarely needed. They spend most of their time studying. Those who break major laws are banished (those who break The Law are killed). |
