As a young man, Itoh grew up only speaking Tenzanese in his mother's house. His father, a member of the ancient Himota Clan, taught him the old ways. His grandfather, head of the clan, taught him to be proud of his heritage. And his grandmother, a tough old bird, taught him to speak his mind.
When he was 16, he began making raids on government facilities in the name of Tenzanai. Sadly, being only one man on such raids, he was only good for a little graffiti & a sword cut here or there. He got caught, & he was given the choice of joining the army or going to Aldgergast. He chose the army, thinking he could subvert them from within.
Instead, he showed them he could sneak, fight, & dodge better than most of their sergeants & some of their veterans, but that he couldn't keep his mouth shut. At best, he insulted them in Tenzanese. At worst, he refused orders & spat at them... until Sergeant Damon got a hold of him. For six weeks, he trained as a common soldier amongst the Imperial Guard. He got to see the covert side of the army, & ended up being selected for special forces training.
They educated him, teaching him new ways to influence his people's freedom (politics, literature). But they could never teach him to keep his mouth shut. After 10 years on the forces, he found himself in front of the Emperor, where he said, in Tenzanese, "It is an honor to meet the man under whose thumb my people rest. May I be so lucky as to be allowed to lick said thumb, that I might be the man who licked oppression?"
At the age of 27, Itoh found himself facing a trip to Aldergast once more, but a timely suicide mission gave him another chance. He was sent to Tamarnthek to infiltrate a Srisian stronghold. By one miracle after another, he returned to Maraddon a hero of the forces, but not even Damon Argent himself would promote him. Fighting a reputation as a lucky fool, he has continued in the forces ever since, even through the Civil War, when he dabbled in politics. Now, he divides his time with the forces & his political endeavors.
Klaus's offer to take him along on a new mission is just another excuse to cause trouble.
