Description Irritonic gnomes are short (about 3.5'), Their heads are slightly too big for their bodies. They have big noses, wide grins, and jet black skin with a slightly less dark shade of hair.
Procreation Gnomes breed with each other, where the type of gnome is determined by the mother of the gnome. Breeding with non-gnomes is only possible with supernatural intervention.
Esoterica Gnomes are hegnhic beings who are compelled to obey specific rules. By obeying the rules, they gain insights into systems and mechanism that gives them a supernatural affinity for devices and engineering. Irritonic gnomes also gain insights into void engineering through void. Gnomes can use almost any supernatural energy except entropy, and irritonic gnomes cannot use mana. The most commonly used are Foundation, aether, ethereal essence, yahas, void, mashoaab, damaskian power, dumaqu, arnum, and ordinal power.
Special Powers Irritonic gnomes have supernatural skill with void engineering and devices. Like all gnomes, they have gnomish illogic damage, wherein their inevitably dangerously failed experiments do not, in fact, hurt them. They also tend to inherently know how much void is present in an object.
Weaknesses Entropy and mana. If a gnome violates their rules, they become a rogue gnome whose energies are askew and dangerous.
Rules

Irritonic gnomes must obey three basic rules:

  1. Negate other energies, do not multiply them.
  2. Do not share your technology outside of those who are already beings of or users of void. Do not teach void engineering to any non-void being.
  3. Kill runed gnomes when possible.
Culture

Irritonic gnomes live in deep jungles where their society is at war with the natural world around it. They have strange industrial parks and complexes where void devices are made and irritology is applied to create new forms of nullifying machinery.

A young irritonic gnomes grows up raised in a factory or workhouse where they are cared for by older children until they are able to work, and then they are watched over by those who run the factory or workhouse. When an irritonic gnome is born, they are immediately brought to these workhouses by the parents, who are eager to get back to their own work. An irritonic gnome is considered mature when they build their first irritonic device without help, which the factory or workhouse has trained them to do. When they are of age, they must find work on their own. Until they do, they must continue working where they are, but if they do not find new work in five years, they must either apply for a fulltime position or be sent away to survive on their own.

It is rare that irritonic gnomes engage in real romantic courtship. Arranged couplings are more common, intentionally directed to produce children. Most irritonic gnomes, while they enjoy sex, do not often wish to reproduce unless they must because of the time it takes them away from work. They love to work, because working with void energies allows them to thrive and become more powerful. The powerful gain benefits like servants, larger homes, better food, and so on.

The leaders of irritonic gnomish society are those with the most power. They are ruthless and structured, hierarchical and cruel.

Engineering Irritonic gnomes are skilled with void engineering. The most common uses for this are devices designed to protect against magical attacks or beings. Their preferred materials are jetsteel and void oil. They are constantly creating objects that alter the energies around them to make them void.
