| Description | At birth, all dragons look like large, pink worms. At maturity, dragons grow to be illusory beings of constantly altering shape and size, but their base form is a massive indigo lizard with wings like a butterfly and a single horn on their snout. Some become completely illusory. |
| Procreation | Dragons mate with each other only. Without intense supernatural interference, half-dragons are an impossibility. Dragons lay one to three eggs at a time. Upon hatching, a dragon immediately begins absorbing background energies. All dragon eggs are filled with pure, liquid draconic energy, which sustains the baby dragon upon hatching. |
| Esoterica | Indigo dragons have absorbed massive amounts of dream energies and poioumenon. They also often have symbolic power, yahas, mana, kor, fate, fortune, emotional energies (especially elation, exhiliration, or creativity), dumaqu, psionic energies, flux, complexity, or possibility. Other neutral energies are possible, but aether is rare in large amounts. Unholy or holy energies are rare, and divine energies are not uncommon. Natural energies are impossible. |
| Special Powers | Dragons gain new powers as they accumulate more energies. At each stage of growth, they gain a new ability, usually culminating with the twelfth ability when they accumulate . The usual progression of powers is as follows:
All dragons accumulate energies by absorbing them naturally from the area around them. As such, they must carefully cultivate their lairs to provide the right kinds of energies, hence they hoard appropriate objects. Other common powers include sleepgaze, mesmerizing, long distance whisper, control fey diversity, grant good dreams, and create major illusions. |
| Alternate Forms | Indigo dragons can glamour into any form in the manner of faeries. |
| Weaknesses | Msawhat-corrupted dream energy can kill them. |
| Subspecies | Fey dragons (or sometimes "glamour beasts") are made entirely of glamour and have no stable form. They have only feyflame breath weapons (not sleeping gas) and cannot exist outside the Dream Realm, Summer Country, or Feybright. They can shape dreams around them and push illusions into the real world. |
| Culture | Indigo dragons dwell on islands off the coasts of the Summer Empire, where reality is soft. There, they languor in the wash of unreality that comes from the indigo waters. They lay eggs on the beaches, where reality is softest, so that they can absorb dreams readily upon hatching. A single parent cares for the young, usually a birth parent but not always. Living on islands, they have small populations that trade with them, usually fey or ingidenous human or animalman islanders, or islanders, and this is how they build their hoards, though later in life, they take to gathering items lost in dreams. Most are loyal to The Faerie Queen, but some are aloof and isolated. These are usually obscure scholars. Some indigo dragons leave their island homes to wander the Dream Realms. These are called kren-sith, and they usually become fey dragons eventually. When indigo dragons grow old, they eventually fall into a deep sleep, fading away into dreams and becoming a minor miro-lord. |
