Illais Tlare is the Grand Singer of Kren'atan, an emerald dragon songstress who is the personal composer of the Emperor of Kren'atan. She is young, for a dragon, being a mere 15,000 years old, but she is clever. She is responsible for the marching cadences of the Kren'atanic army, the bombastic percussive compositions that hold sway still in the Kren'atanic court, & the gentle, sorrowful airs that keep the non-dragonic leaders of Kren'atan happy.

She is old school for a composer. She is also known for her operatic work, being the finest soprano ever to grace the opera stage in Kren'atan. Every year, she rents the Great Arena in order to hold a small festival of musicians from Kren'atan, capped with a performance of the most popular opera of the time, with herself in a starring role.
