Winged eyes who keep watch over mortality.

Habitat: The Seams
Ilaaliye formed in the Celestial Realms when the first mortals were endangered by infernal powers.
Ilaaliye appear to be 10’ wide eyeballs covered in palest white flesh. On the upper half of their lids are two massive wings made of mulitcolored light, spanning about 30’ in either direction. They have colorful tentacles that flow behind them.
Ilaaliye reproduce sexually by enjoining tentacles and exchanging sexual fluid. The fluids mingle and form an egg, which they lay in stone cavities in the walkways of the seams and protect for a year before it hatches into a small ilaaliye chick.
Ilaaliye can live in the emptiness of the Seams. They fly through the planar realms on alert for infernal powers and other dangers. Their tentacles have the power to stun any infernal being.
Ilaaliye can see aligned energies over vast distances. They can also see mundanely over a similar distance - measured in the millions of miles - if they are in the Seams. In the Spirit Realm, they can still see over vast distances, but it is measured in hundreds of miles.
If they sense danger, they have the ability to send a message at lightspeed (via a lightbeam) to any target within the Angeldawn system if they have bonded with that being. The warning comes in the form of light which gives the target a vision of the nature of the incoming danger.
Desumane can kill them.
The ilaaliye belong to a singular nation, synonymous with their species, which is diffuse throughout the solar system.
The ilaaliye live in small clusters that rove through the Seams near the strands of it that are close to Shem or the related Celestial Realms. Because ilaaliye are attuned to energies, they move through the Seams at supernatural speeds, following the flows of energies there. They seek sources of infernal power, identify them from a distance, and send visions to those they believe can help. Because the energies they seek are infernal, they have sometimes missed threats that come from other sources or energies (notably, paradoxical); this is a source of frustration among them and some debate among their communities.
There are 3,333 ilaaliye communities. The paths they follow around the gates and interstitials between the Spirit Realm, Celestial Realms, and the Seams forms a matrix of glory and power. The 3,333 communities are made up of 3,333 ilaaliye each. They fly in a formation that mimics the matrix and allows for maximum awareness. They consider themselves the last line of defense against the Eldritch; they watch as much to see if anything is leaving Shem as they do if anything is approaching. They consider this hawsha, or the task.
Their communities are structured with a council of ra'iisulo (sing. ra'iisul), the prime ilaaliye. They are instinctively chosen by the community based on their apparent skill at hawsha. There are 111 ra’iisulo. Below them in rank are the sare. The sare are servants to the ra’iisulo and number 333. Below them in rank are the jaamacadeed. The jaamacadeed are guards and number 999. The rest of the ilaaliye in the community are afar-geesood. The afar-geesood have many roles and number 1,890.
Young ilaaliye are raised by the afar-geesood. They are trained in all the arts and skills needed for hawsha. Those who excel rise in the rank. Those who do not are found other roles needed in the community. The hawsha defines each community, and each community defines the hawsha in their own way. Some hyperfocus on one specific infernal energy; others focus on certain area; others focus on specific Eldritch or demons. They each have a focus.
The ilaaliye are beings of miyirnimo, the celestial power of warning. They are its most potent wielders. They may use any other celestial power and most aetherial powers, assuming there is any around, and nommic, paradoxical, and shebvic powers are possible but relatively rare. Most of them have some kind of faith. Infernal powers are forbidden and will result in banishment if used.
The ilaaliye believe in Tii Oohinaysa, She Who Cries, a deity who weeps for all their failed attempts to prevent catastrophe on Shem. She weeps for the Fall, for the shattering of time, for the past eschatons. They honor her by being the best they can be at the hawsha.
Gender is allowed, but seen as culturally unimportant. Love within the community is common and free.
The ilaaliye are essentially a military nation who barter with other beings for their few needs.
The ilaaliye are effectively one giant military designed to warn others against the infernal powers that threaten them. The jaamacadeed are their main bulk of warriors, but all ilaaliye can fight with their tentacles.
Their language is based on Somali.
The ilaaliye are known to few other mortal beings, but those who know of them often confuse them for angels.
