Hyram was born to farmers on the Palhuric plains, but he quickly grew tired of farm life. He ran away at the age of 13 and wandered, living off odd jobs and charity until he came to Malhuin and the big cities. There, he saw the universities and wanted to join, but his life as a vagabond made him unlikely to be accepted. He tried and tried, while working shit jobs, until one day, he chanced to engage a lawyer in a debate. His skills at arguing impressed the man, and he earned a scholarship from him.

At university, he fell into theology quickly. After 20 years, he had earned four degrees in theology, philosophy, thaumaturgy, and history, and he was one of the world's foremost scholars. He was hired away by various powerful leaders. Eventually, faiths were recruiting him. He listened to all pursuers, but finally found his niche amongst the followers of the Arbiter. He proved adept at balancing scales, and this talent brought him to the attention of his higher ups. He was called to serve in greater and greater positions, until he was called to the Arbiter himself and asked to tend his scales.

In the wake of Starfall, Hyram awoke alone, lost, confused in the Fuligin Field. He has gone to the Dedicate of Balance to seek aid and guidance, as the cannot contact the Arbiter.
