A homunignulus is a little ka'ar created through alchemical arts, specifically alchemical arts that capture rubedian aether. The chemical recipe for creating a homunculus involves burning the maker's sperm or menstruation, but varies by maker otherwise. Those who do not produce sperm or menstruation can sometimes use that of another, but it requires much more aetherial power.

Homunignuli are living, functional living ka'ar, but they do not have souls and cannot reproduce (these two things are not related). They usually stand about 4" tall. The aetherial process to create them leaves them with ka'ar powers and a bond to their maker.

Powers:
The powers of the homunignuli derive from the powers of the maker, but sometimes the instability of rubedian aether means other powers occur. All homunignuli have the powers of a fyr-ka'ar, but some gain other rubedian powers.

The Recipe:
First the maker must use rubedian aether distilled into a fluid and ignite it. Take the sperm or egg of a being and place it in a pepper, burning it in the rubedian flame. When the fire burns out, a little figure made of aetherial smoke will appear. Over the course of forty weeks, it will solidify if continually fed new life-infused peppers.
