| Description | Females with large vulture wings & bird legs ending in nasty talons. Older harpies lose their arms & merely have wings. They have beaks, though these are not very strong. Their feathers are black, brown, or white, and their faces tend to have colorful markings on them. |
| Procreation | With captured males, to make new harpies, except enders & black enders (who make more enders) & demons & raveners, who make half-demons & greater harpies. |
| Magic | One in five million has soul magic or heart magic. Mind & body magic are possible. Void is possible, but unlikely. Faith is not unheard of. |
| Special Powers | Harpies are specialized carnivores who hunt the food of other races. As such, their sense of smell is amazing when dealing with nursing children, whom they kill and eat. The touch of a harpy's hand will draw nourishment from the victim, causing them to weaken enough & lighten enough to be carried in the talons. The stench of a harpy will make almost anyone vomit uncontrollably. Harpies can command the winds to a small degree. Harpies are always hungry. A greater harpy, the offspring of a ravener & a harpy, is a one-winged harpy with double the stats of a regular harpy. |
| Weaknesses | Harvest magic or faith can weaken a harpy. |
| Culture | They live in massive nests in high mountains or great barren trees. Their society revolves around the nest mothers, those without arms (the elders). These harpies lead the flock from their roosts, while the rest do their bidding. The nests are split between nest mothers, hunter (those that capture food), gatherers (those that capture mates), & nest weavers (those that build the nests). Harpies are vicious, cruel, violent kidnappers. |
