| Description | Grey-tinged, paler, or distorted versions of their former selves. |
| Corruption | Grey saints form either when an extremely devout follower of the Bone-Mother comes near to death but moves past it to undeath immediately because of the depth of their corruption or from an intentional ceremony. |
| Esoterica | Grey saints are beings of msawhat and spirit energy. They have all the powers they had in life save those of qi, msawhat, or heavenly essences, but those they lose are replaced by equally powerful abilities or arts powered by msawhat. They sometimes learn other powers, such as other forms of msawhat, shadow, all forms of infernum or arnum, entropy, some forms of shebv heya, paradoxical energies, ethereal energy, mana, and ambrosia. |
| Special Powers | Grey saints cause intense unease in those who are near them. They do not rot. They do gain supernatural strength from being dead, not feeling normal pain. Normal weapons cannot hurt them (though they can hack them apart, they cannot cause any fatal damage). They regenerate easily. All lesser undead obey their commands as if under complete control. |
| Necromancy | A follower of the Bone-Mother must perform a ceremony (27) in which they are consumed entirely in msawhat. A circle of bone dust, a thousand corrupted spirits trapped within, must be inscribed in the stone at the bottom of a tomb. The follower steps into the circle without disturbing it, wearing a shroud tailored for them, and prays. Then, they attempt to kill themselves by any means they prefer. If the ceremony succeeds, the suicide attempt fails, and they become a grey saint. The circle is absorbed into them. Or, they can speak the Name of the Bone-Mother. If she favors them, they become a grey saint (and a Dedicate). To control a grey saint requires either the favor of the Bone-Mother or raw msawhat power (30+a roll vs. WIL). Summoning one can be done with similar strength or by writing their name on a piece of paper made from the skin of a mortal and burning it in a censer made of bonesilver. To capture a grey saint and draw their power, a necromancer must be (a) more favored by the Bone-Mother than the saint (unlikely) or (b) so powerful (30) already that the grey saint is weaker than them. Then they must be able to touch the grey saint and invoke the power of their msawhat to draw that power. It is a pure struggle of power and will. |
| Sending | The Name of Death Herself or the Silver Mother can send them. If they somehow are converted to another faith, they will lose all their power and become a shambler. |
| Weaknesses | Pure qi or the gates is the only thing that will work. Even other heavenly essences only irritate them. |
| Behavior | Grey saints are clergy of the Bone-Mother. They lead flocks of the damned, convert mortals to the faith, and create vile congregations. |
| Dominion Culture | Grey saints are the highest ranking faithful in the Raesian Dominion, ruling in parallel to the bash tcheliki. They are the ecclesiastical power to the bash tchelik governmental power. |
| Other Dominions | The only other Dominion that grey saints are allowed to be part of is the Srisian Dominion, where the Bone-Mother is still worshipped. Otherwise, they risk losing their power for betraying the Bone-Mother. |
| Mortal Interactions | It is rare for most mortals to even be aware of grey saints, and those that do are usually involved heavily in their own faiths, warned against these abominations. |
| Afterlife | Grey saints move straight to the Grey Lands and nowhere else. |
