| Description | Greater ticks appear to be slightly anthropomorphized ticks. They are huge, about 12' tall if standing on their hind legs. Their bodies are broad and horrifying. They have massive cutting mandibles and a toothed feeding tube. They have four pairs of "legs": two sets for arms, two sets for legs--though they can run on their six back legs if need be. |
| Procreation | Follows the mother. |
| Magic | One in five million have heart or soul magic. Mind and body magic are possible, and bloodcasting is ubiquitous. Void is rare. Faith is uncommon. |
| Special Powers | Greater ticks engorge themselves on blood and use it to fuel their magic use. They have very powerful bodies that are nigh impossible to crush. They carry many diseases, including Lyme disease, q fever, Palhuric tick fever, babesiosis, ehlichiosis, meningoecencephalitis, anaplasmosis, jaundice, and Palhuric mountain spotted fever. |
| Weaknesses | While engorged, they are easier to kill. Holy magic or faith can harm them. |
| Culture | Greater ticks live in forests and wait for prey to come along. Unlike their tiny brethren, they cannot hide on someone's body, so they cultivate food. While common animals are suitable prey, they prefer intelligent creatures. Almost all greater ticks are bloodcasters, and their society is built around that skill. The name they call themselves is nigh unpronounceable, but is approximated ze!kkezt. |
