| Description | Greater crickets appear to be slightly anthropomorphized crickets. They stand 7' tall. They have 6 legs (4 legs, 2 arms) and powerful hind legs. They have strong jaws, tympanic membranes used for hearing in their knees, and flattened bodies. Their wings have a series of tooth-like ridges that they use in making music. |
| Procreation | Follows the mother. |
| Magic | One in five million have heart or soul magic. Mind and body magic are possible. Void is possible. Faith is not uncommon. |
| Special Powers | Greater crickets use their wings to make music. They rub their normal wings on their tooth-ridges to create sounds. They have several songs: calling, courting, aggressive, copulatory, and celebratory. Their chirping reacts to the temperature as well (slower in the cold). They are nocturnal, and get about by hearing. One in a thousand has one of several abilities: good luck edge, rain prediction, commercial sense, illness vectoring, hope visage, know own death, or predict pregnancies. They are all good jumpers. Unlike common crickets, both sexes can make music amongst greater crickets. |
| Weaknesses | Silence magic or faith, and envy magic or faith, can harm them. |
| Culture | Greater crickets live normal lives in their forest villages, punctuated with nightly concerts wherein the males of the village comes together and sings out their lives--nothing is secret amongst them, for all is told with the song. Shame is almost unknown to them. The females listen and choose their lifemates from this festival. The females then sing in the morning, telling their choices and explaining their own lives. Their name for themselves is approximated ktrrtilk. |
